NANS LAGOS CALLS FOR TRASPARENCY IN THE FORTHCOMING LASUSU ELECTION

The Leadership of NANS JCC LAGOS have recently been receiving an overwhelming influx of complaints and agitations from the students of Lagos State University primarily about the state of the union in  the school and preponderantly about the Student Union’s Central election coming up barely some 24 hours now.

As a body whose tenets are enshrined in and saddled with the responsibility of ensuring the welfare of all students in Lagos State, it is within the purview of our terms of reference as occasioned by the mandate and trust that the students’ populace gave to and have in us to ensure that their  Fundamental rights and interests as students are pragmatically preserved and protected, not jettisoned or trampled upon and these rights doesn’t exclude exercising their franchise to elect their union leaders without external threats or looming tendencies for electoral malpractice as allegedly being orchestrated by the Management of the Varsity.

We are therefore embarking on some ameliorative measures, proactively, in a bid to assure all LASUITES that we will maximize all avenues at our disposal to ensure the uphold of the will of the majority without preference or prejudice while amplifying the ambience of a free and fair electoral process.

To start with, we seek the indulgence of the LASU management and the IEC to oblige the students demand in adopting the constitutionally backed ballot system of voting and also to refrain from any act or conduct that are inimical to the smooth running of the election as stated in section 107 of the supreme LASUSU constitution. In furtherance, we will equally be sending in observers from the NANS JCC team to examen the process and ensure transparency. We have adequate provisions for the press and coverage by reputable media houses for the  coverage of the voting exercise across all faculties to further assure LASUITES that their mandate and interests will be superfluously protected.

Dare to struggle!

Dare to win!!

Signed
